Question for the Week of Dec 10-16: Best Other Blog Post in 2012

What's the best film blog post - from another blog - that I read this year?
Well, this one is easy. I still haven't watched Black Swan, sadly. I know the movie's supposed to be great, and I look forward to it at some point, but I haven't had time. Fortunately, I am interested in things I haven't even seen yet - I was reading through Nikhat's film blog, and she lead me to a post by her friend, Sati.

Sati's Cinematic Corner is a beautifully-constructed site - great layout, great images... Beyond the effort needed to create her site (more than I can do for my own, sadly) Sati took still more time to write about 48 hidden images in Black Swan.

The film that literalizes: she wasn't in bed alone, but was really screwing herself.
Going over each with care, my fellow blogger really impressed me with the collection of stills that she gathered; reading contextualized descriptions for each, my socks were knocked off by both the sick depth in Fincher'Aronofsky's movie and Sati's commentary. Go read her stunning post.

I don't know if the image work in Swan is so noticeable that these images would have registered, personally. I'd like to think they would have, since I've picked up on a lot of little tricks in past films. What I'm trying to express is that I'm almost near blog-jealousy at her accomplishment.

If anything, Black Swan seems even more impressive than I was led to believe. It's pretty rare for me to have some deep thematic ideas about a movie I've never watched, and I have Sati and David Fincher Darren Aronofsky (and Nikhat) to thank for that.

You do, now, as well...

PS, yes I really was tired enough to think that Fincher made Black Swan. I still haven't even picked a holiday movie to review! Now it's time for coffee and lawyering...

    1. HAHAHA, oh my tired little brain. I actually re-wrote a section this morning and changed it to Fincher. This is what happens when you have 4 jobs...

  2. Thank you so much for this!

I'm glad you enjoyed the post so much and I'm very glad people keep finding it in vast internet and through it - find new appreciation for Black Swan. All of those hidden images are one of the many reasons I love the film so much.

    1. Seriously, thank you! Your site was super-impressive, and the post itself was amazing. I WILL make sure I finally watch this movie soon. I'm so glad Nikhat recommended the post, or I might never have seen it...
